July 9 – Last Day in Current Location
If you’ve been putting off a visit to Discovery City Children’s Museum, you only have a few more chances to check it out in its current space. The popular downtown Port Huron destination is officially on the move!
The last day to visit the museum at its current location will be July 9, 2026. To make sure members and sponsors don’t lose out on any value, all memberships and sponsorships will be automatically extended to compensate for the temporary closure during the transition.
Discovery City’s New Location
The museum isn’t going far—it is relocating about a block away to 310 Huron Avenue, where Country Style Market was located until its recent closure. The property acquisition is being managed by the Community Foundation of St. Clair County.
An official grand opening date for the new location has not yet been established. Patrons are advised to keep a close eye on Discovery City’s social media accounts to stay in the loop.
Knowlton Ice Museum Returning
The museum’s departure means a familiar favorite is coming back. The space at 317 Grand River Avenue is expected to revert back to being the Knowlton Ice Museum, which occupied the building for many years before Discovery City moved in. The Community Foundation of St. Clair County is currently managing the Knowlton collection to prepare for its return.
Once both museums are up and running, families will have even more fantastic options for cultural enrichment and all-ages fun right in the heart of Downtown Port Huron.
