Going to see and hear things live and in person, whether it is animals at the zoo, actors on a stage, or athletes on a court or field is valuable for children’s developing brains. Watching something on a screen is just not the same. For kids who are learning a sport or learning to play an instrument, live games and performances are inspiring.
Sure, you can listen to any kind of music on Spotify, but seeing and hearing a live musical performance is next level. It takes effort to find a performance, buy tickets, and gather up the crew to get to a concert or show. Most music instructors say it is worth it.
Port Huron Township Piano Instructor Marcia Collins said, “An often overlooked, yet important part of a music education is attending live music concerts. Watching live concerts creates inspiration for students, stimulating their creativity and encouraging goal setting.”
Collins said, “The entire family benefits from the shared experience, and parents often report their student practiced more after attending a concert.”
BlueWaterParent.com is publishing the Live Performance Guide to make it easier for parents to find out when and where they can take their kids to experience music and theater live and in-person. The guide will have the kind of performances that are intended for families and kids, so it won’t list every single live performance in the Blue Water Area. It will include things like free concerts at SC4, International Symphony Orchestra concerts, and family-friendly stage productions.
