Summer Reading Program
Summer is the perfect time for families to explore everything the St. Clair County Library System has to offer. This year’s Summer Reading Program, “Color Our World,” not only encourages reading, but it also gives kids a chance to win some very cool prizes.
The annual reading program begins on June 14th, and reading can be logged until August 16th. The program will be launched with the Summer Reading Kickoff on June 14th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the Main Library‘s West Lawn. Participants can enjoy lawn games, ice cream, and more. Kids are asked to wear their favorite colors to celebrate the theme: Color Our World.
Beanstock App
The St. Clair County Library System will be using the Beanstock app to manage the program. Participants will register on Beanstock and start logging minutes read to complete challenges. As the challenges are completed, raffle tickets are earned. According to SCCLS, this year’s prizes include a whale rocker, Squishmallows galore, boardgames, camping and crafting bundles, pickleball sets, plus tech like a minifridge, a projector, gaming headsets, and Fire Tablets. Grand Prizes feature gift cards for the Detroit Zoo, Discovery City, movie tickets, The Foundry in Port Huron, and more. Participants do not need to spend raffle tickets on Grand Prizes. They are automatically entered upon completion of the summer reading challenge.
For those who prefer not to use the app, there are paper reading logs available at all library branches.
Every Minute Counts
A badge is earned for every 60 minutes of reading. A badge earns a raffle ticket, with more earned as you get more badges. Attending library programs earns badges as well, and there are also Art Guides that can be completed to earn more badges.
Art Guides are available at all library branches.
