Here’s a list of public places to skate outdoors in the Blue Water Area. Click the links for maps to the rinks. Always check first to see if they are actually open.

McMorran Place Plaza
This McMorran Plaza ice rink was brand new in 2023. It has cooling coils underneath the ice, so it can be used even when the weather is above freezing. Bring your own skates or rent some from the McMorran Pro Shop. Check the McMorran Plaza Facebook Page for the most up-to-date information on hours of operation for the rink. Hockey is not permitted.
Fort Gratiot Ice Rink
Palmer Park
Port Huron’s Palmer Park is a winter wonderland with sledding hills, a place to warm up, bathrooms, and a skating rink. The rink is open when the weather allows and skates and equipment are available to borrow when the Palmer Park Recreation Center is open (8:30-4 M-F).
Goodells Park
Goodells County Park has a large ice rink that stays smooth because it is in a covered arena. The rink is open if it’s cold enough and if it’s cold enough, you’ll want to warm up in the Community Center building which also has restrooms. Grieg Park – St. Clair
Grieg Park in the city of St. Clair has a rink for skating and hockey. Weather permitting.
Heritage Park- Marine City

Skating tips:
Sharpen the blades. It makes a huge difference. Lace them up pretty tight too, to avoid ankle injury.
Think about cold feet. Wool or fleece-lined socks can help keep those little toes from freezing.
Helmets are a good idea for young skaters and new skaters.
Getting those skates on and off is a workout. Dress in layers to avoid overheating (looking at you, parents).
Have fun skating and making memories.
