Do you know someone who went to “St. Mary’s” as it is affectionately called? The Port Huron school, St. Mary/McCormick Catholic Academy, has been teaching kids across many grade levels since the 1960s. The school, located at 10th and Ballentine in the North End of Port Huron, is proudly celebrating its 60th anniversary, and you’re invited. The school will be holding a Spring Carnival, open to the public, on Saturday, May 11th, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Family Atmosphere
Mrs. Stephanie Weaver, Principal of St. Mary/McCormick Catholic Academy said, “The community at St. Mary/McCormick Catholic Academy is unlike any school community I’ve been in. The staff are so dedicated and love coming to work. The students are so kind and support each other. The parents have great friendships and help support the school in so many ways. It feels like one big family!”
Sixty Years and Counting
Weaver said, “This year SM/MCA is celebrating its 60th anniversary! Our small class sizes, individualized instruction, academic excellence, safe environment, and Catholic values have helped many students succeed over these 60 years. I am proud to be the principal of such a wonderful community and to continue this mission for another 60 years!” Enrollment for the 2024-25 school year is underway now, with openings in Preschool, Young 5s, Kindergarten, and grades 1-8. Some classes have limited openings, so don’t delay to schedule a tour and register.
Spring Carnival
Saturday’s carnival will have twelve different Carnival Games throughout the school, multiple Bounce Houses, Raffles, a Touch-a-Truck area featuring various law enforcement vehicles, PHFD fire trucks, Ambulances, semi-trucks, excavators, Coast Guard equipment, and food.
