The Closet by A Beautiful Me has been located in Downtown Port Huron, right next to Kate’s Downtown and across the street from Sperry’s Moviehouse since 2019. Starting August 1st, they will be open in their new location, across the street, at 220 Huron Avenue, in the pink storefront, previously occupied by Papaya Branch Boutique.

Dresses for a Cause

The Closet sells special occasion dresses that have been donated. All proceeds from sales at The Closet support the mission of A Beautiful Me: to build girls’ confidence and self-esteem through workshops, programs, and events. A Beautiful Me has served over 12,000 girls in southeast Michigan since 2008 and has given volunteers and donors fulfilling work and opportunities to give back to the community.

“DRESStination”

Founder and Executive Director, Karen Palka, said, “As a DRESS-tination, women travel from all over the state of Michigan to shop for new, or once-worn dresses.”

Palka said that the nonprofit is growing, and that she gained the opportunity to expand the footprint of The Closet in a new location and add to A Beautiful Me’s office space. The relocation gives 4,500 square feet to A Beautiful Me offices and retail store. Palka said, “This growth will help us serve more girls in after-school workshops and more women of all ages through our retail store. We are grateful for every shopper, every sponsor, and every volunteer who makes this possible!”

Reopening August 1st at Noon

The Closet will be closed for moving from Tuesday, July 29th, through Thursday, July 31st. The reopening will be at noon on Friday, August 1st, at the new location.
