DanceAbilities Class Offered at Birchwood Mall

Dancers of all abilities now have a safe place to learn a new skill, exercise, and have fun with the introduction of the DanceAbilities class at Mainstreet Dance Connection.

MainStreet Dance Connection’s new location at the Birchwood Mall in Fort Gratiot, Michigan is offering the new inclusive and barrier-free experience. There are two classes times: one for kids aged 8 to 17 and another for those aged 18 and up.

A Dream Come True

Dance instructor Katelyn Hunger said, “Almost 20 years ago, as a high school aide at Woodlands Developmental Center, I saw the passion those students had for dancing. Since then, I’ve always wanted to combine my love of dance with their love of dance in a place that was fun and exciting but also barrier and judgment-free; a place that doesn’t see a person for their walker, pacer, or wheelchair, or any other “limitations” they may have. We do NOT have limitations at DanceAbilities, we are all just people who love to dance and are there to be happy and positive dancers!”

Starting with 6-Week Class

Hunger said, “Thanks to studio owner Michelle Elliott and the MSDC family, it’s time to make my dream a reality! As we are starting in the middle of dance season, I thought it best to start off with some group classes: a 6-week meet and greet to help everyone get comfortable. I’m hoping to integrate more specific classes like Chair Tappin’, Jazzy Jumpin’, and Buddy Ballet in the future, but continue our group sessions with additional classes for younger children. I look forward to seeing how far my dream is going to reach.”
