frozen colored water in muffin tins and baking pans

Fun in Frozen Temps

Baby it’s COLD outside! Need some ways to pass the time, and feeling a little stir-crazy?

Here’s a fun way to take advantage of these frozen temps with this fun winter activity.

Colored ice blocks. Raid your kitchen cabinets for anything you can use to make different-shaped ice cubes.  We used stainless steel bowls, muffin tins, and bread pans.  Metal worked best for us, as the cubes were able to slide right out.

For a little extra fun- we added food coloring to make different colored cubes.  Mix it up, and set the pans outside overnight (or in these temps, a couple of hours would probably do the trick!)

Ta da! Then let your kiddos’ imaginations take hold as they build with these beautiful frozen blocks.  My daughter is only 2, so we didn’t get too extravagant.  But if you’re feeling adventurous- making a snow house with “stained glass windows” would be pretty epic!
