Meet a Real Astronaut and Aquanaut at SC4’s STEM Fest

It’s not every day that you get to see a real astronaut, or an aquanaut, for that matter (yes, aquanaut is a real thing!). Dorothy “Dottie” Metcalf-Lindenburger, a real retired NASA astronaut and aquanaut will be making an appearance at STEM Fest at St. Clair County Community College on March 11th.

Metcalf-Lindenburger served as a mission specialist on a mission to the International Space Station in 2010. She also commanded a 12-day undersea mission aboard the Aquarius underwater laboratory and became an “aquanaut” after spending over 24 hours underwater.

Metcalf-Lindenberger said, “I’m looking forward to the upcoming SC4 STEM Fest because I enjoy engaging students to think about and experience what is possible for them. Also, I know how impactful STEM events were in shaping my early career path, and the Challenger Learning Center at SC4 will definitely launch their dreams!”

If you still haven’t signed up for STEM Fest, it’s time. All the details and sign-up information can be found here.
