Discovery City Port Huron Sensory Friendly Sundays Details

Sensory Friendly Days have been moved to SUNDAYS, starting June 1, 2025.

Welcoming Environment

Sometimes, the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of a children’s museum can be overwhelming to a child, and for a child with sensory issues, it can be a nightmare.

Discovery City Children’s Museum in Port Huron, Michigan, has a solution: Sensory Friendly Sundays.

The Museum offers tools and supports to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for families and children of all abilities, including those with a child with autism.

Limited Admission

On Sensory Friendly Sundays, admission is limited. Fewer kids mean less noise and stimulation. Lights are dimmed, and quiet play equipment is available for children.

Sensory bags are available with items like noise-canceling headphones, weighted vests, sunglasses, sensory touch tikes, fidget toys, and cards that children can use to express emotions and feelings.

Registration Required

Since admission is limited, registration is required for Sensory Friendly Sundays. The cost is $5, and an adult must accompany and attend with children., Parents, grandparents, or caregivers can register in the child’s name at www.discoverycityph.com/event-list<http://www.discoverycityph.com/event-list>.

Sensory Friendly Days started April 7th and are now held every first Sunday of the month from 10-11 a.m.
