St. Clair County 4-H & Youth Fair Brings Animals, Carnival, Rodeo, Monster Trucks, and More

The St. Clair County 4-H and Youth Fair will be held July 17th through 22nd at Goodells County Park.

The 86th annual fair has everything: carnival rides, grandstand events, food vendors, a variety of exhibits, and the main event: the 4-H projects.

4-H families have been working all year on their projects from livestock to horsemanship to still exhibits like cake decorating, photography, and much, much more. To learn more about 4-H, click here.

A day at the fair is fun, but a whole week at the fair is a real thrill for kids of all ages. To get a week’s pass to the fair, click here.

There’s so much going on at the fair, you will want to make a plan for each day that you go. Must-do activities include:

  1. Checking out the 4-H exhibits. You might even get to talk to the kids while they are feeding their animals or getting ready to show. Don’t skip the barns with the still exhibits. 4-H kids put a lot of work into growing vegetables, developing their photography skills, and practicing things like archery.
  2. Going to a Grandstand Event. Who needs to go to Ford Field when there are Monster Trucks right in the Blue Water Area? Bring your earplugs and get ready to be amazed. Watch the joy and wonder on the faces of little Monster truck fans and you will be glad you went. If you’ve never been to a rodeo, here’s your chance. The fair has a very good rodeo with real cowboys and cowgirls, real rodeo broncos and bulls, and talented ropers and barrel racers. There is also a bump and run, a demolition derby, and a tractor pull.
  3. Carnival. The Fair has a great carnival. They have rides for all ages, with plenty of age-appropriate rides for little kids and more thrilling rides for big kids, teens, and adults. Carnival details are as follows:

Need to cool off? The Splash Pad will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Farm Museum, on the grounds of the Goodells County Park, is open daily from noon to 6 p.m. This is a great chance to teach the kids about the history of agriculture in the area and explain to them how food gets from the farm to the dinner table.

Hungry? There are food options galore. Take a look at the list here.

Tuesday, July 18th is Kids Day. There are special events like a diaper derby, rope making, balloons, clowns, and much more. The Monster Trucks will be rolling in that afternoon, so it’s the perfect time to be at the fair.
