The City of Port Huron Recreation Department has published its summer schedule of events, classes, and camps. Registration begins May 8th for residents of the city of Port Huron and May 9th for everyone else.
Learn to Swim
Learning to swim is not optional in an area that has so much access to water. The Port Huron Recreation Department offers a variety of swimming lessons for toddlers to teens. Children can get started on swimming skills as young as 6 months old.
Arts
There is a long list of art classes offered this summer, with everything from Moss Gardens to Dance lessons. Classes are available for children and adults. One highlight is Irish Dance for children and adults, taught by Shannon Irish Dance Academy.
All the Sports
Summer is a great time to try a new sport, and the options abound. Lacrosse, tennis, soccer, basketball, baseball, wiffleball, beach volleyball, karate, and pickleball are all offered by the Port Huron Recreation Department. There is also a swim team for serious swimmers and Sporties for Shorties and Super Sporties for young athletes, ages 3-5. Adults can participate in a Learn to Sail class.
Junior Recreator
Adolescents and teens have a great opportunity to help out with all of the fun classes and events as a Junior Recreator. While gaining valuable work experience and having fun, they will also earn an exciting trip at the end of the season.
Community Events
All of the community events for families are on the BlueWaterParent.com Events Calendar. This year’s lineup of Rockin’ the Rivers concerts will be on Thursdays in August at the McMorran Plaza.
Much More
There is much more for all ages offered this summer. You can get the full schedule at https://www.porthuronrec.com/.
