Valentine's Ladybug Footprint Craft

Valentine Craft

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Two years ago my daughter brought home the cutest ladybug craft from daycare using her footprint.  It was just about the cutest thing I’d ever seen, and every year since then I have decided to replicate it. Now I have these beautiful works of art that show just how tiny my baby’s feet used to be.  It only requires red and black paint, white paper, googly eyes, and a little bit of glitter to make it extra special.

Here’s what to do

Step 1: Paint the bottom half of your child’s foot with red paint.  Paint the heel black.

Step 2: Place two footprints in the middle of the page.  This part is really trial and error with little busy baby and toddler feet.  Make sure to have lots of papers available in case you need to make extra copies.

Step 3: Allow the paint to dry, and once it is dry go back in with a small paintbrush to add the details.  Little legs coming out the side, antennas, and lines and hearts down the middle.  Don’t forget to add the googly eyes!

Step 4: This is the part where you can really make this project your own! I decided to write “little lovebugs” and add glitter.  You can choose to add stickers, or make your own wording.  Let your little one help you with the stickers!

Step 5: Make sure to add the year and your child’s name!

Ta-da! Your baby is a tiny Picasso.

Enjoy for years to come

I chose to laminate mine and hang them on the wall in our office. We now have a beautiful collection of three and I will continue adding one each year.  You could also put them in a frame and pull them out every year with any other Valentines Day decorations you may have!
