Get Kids Involved in Christmas Decorating

BlueWaterParent.com asked our advertising partner, Erin MacNeill, owner of Willow & Grove Interior Design, for some tips on holiday decorating with kids.

MacNeill said, “Let them help! They often just want to be a part of it all, and will (likely) only want to hang a few bulbs on the family tree.  I know mine want to help until they get tired, then they just want to watch.”

MacNeill suggested letting kids decorate their own trees. She said, “So many retailers are offering small trees and tiny decorations that can be used in many different places of the home. Let them choose some of their favorite colored ornaments or bulbs and have them set up their tree in their bedroom or a special place in the house. Just remind them that they’re also responsible for taking it down!”

MacNeill said to let the kids choose the color palette, and if it’s not your style, that’s okay; they’ll love the freedom of it all.
